Ukrainian Feminist Network Participated in the Global Forum On Crisis and Care

In May 2025, representatives of the Ukrainian Feminist Network for Freedom and Democracy took part in the global feminist forum On Crisis and Care, which brought together over 250 activists, human rights defenders, and experts from Latin America, Africa, Asia, Oceania, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.

Across the globe, movements are confronting interwoven crises that threaten the rights, safety, and well-being of all human rights defenders, especially women, trans, and non-binary individuals.
The forum organizers were clear in their vision:
Care is what sustains feminist movements in times of crisis. The most effective response to crisis is care.

The forum created a space to connect across regions, co-create strategies, build relationships, and support each other’s holistic well-being.

During meetings with international donors, discussions and advocacy focused on sustainable support for feminist movements in crisis contexts—sharing what we’ve learned and exploring how donors and activists can collaborate more effectively.

Participants expressed solidarity with Ukraine, offering space to share lessons learned and best practices, and to learn from the challenges and needs of transnational movements and vulnerable communities.

This exchange helps us move forward with greater awareness of potential risks, avoid common pitfalls, and shape inclusive and effective post-crisis and post-war recovery strategies.💬 “It was not only a chance to be heard but also to share how we, in Ukraine, continue fighting for women’s rights and freedoms in a time of crisis,” shared Anastasiia Chebotarova.
