Transnational Solidarity in Times of Crisis: Partnership Between Ukraine and Moldova

A Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed between the National Coalition “Life Without Violence” in Moldova and the Ukrainian Feminist Network NGO, marking a new stage of transnational feminist cooperation in Eastern Europe.
Both Ukraine and Moldova are navigating the compounded challenges of war, displacement, and the path toward EU accession. Within this context of multiple crises — defined by the rise of right-wing narratives, shrinking civic space, and increasing gender-based violence — feminist movements are called to act with resilience, unity, and shared purpose.
This partnership embodies the commitment of Ukrainian and Moldovan feminists to stand together against systemic oppression and patriarchal backlash. By joining forces, the two networks aim to strengthen solidarity, joint advocacy, and collective strategizing, ensuring that women’s rights and gender equality remain at the heart of democratic transformation in both countries.
Ukraine and Moldova share not only borders but also common struggles and hopes — from addressing the gendered impacts of war and displacement to harnessing EU integration as a driver for human rights and equality. This collaboration reaffirms that feminist solidarity knows no borders.
